Somatic Practice

Coming home to our bodies

Our work together involves growing self-awareness and noticing sensations in your body. Sensations are the language of our nervous system. It is through our nervous system that we heal. By noticing the sensations in your body, you can learn to track your nervous system and with somatic practices, you can support, resource and reshape your nervous system. By becoming aware of your inner experience and learning to befriend all of your parts you can change the way you feel and become fully alive in the present.

Alexandra Partington

I am a somatic practitioner and work at the heart of our operating system - our nervous system. I facilitate an equine-assisted therapeutic model, incorporating my training in Educational Kinesiology and Compassionate Communication, and I bring in Somatic practices. I host gentle interactions between my clients and the horses/equine teachers, to support growth and healing through working with, tracking and supporting the nervous system, by being encouraged to notice sensations in your body. My work honours the horse as an equal partner.
These are my trainings:

  • Bachelor of Adult Education
  • Registered Educational Kinesiologist: Break Throughs International
  • Equine-Assisted Therapy: The Healing Herd, Equine-Supported Learning and Coaching Training Programme
  • Biology of Trauma Certificate: Trauma Healing Accelerated with Dr. Aimie Apigian

Educational Kinesiology

A body-based therapy that uses whole-body intentional movements including Brain Gym™, Touch for Health and Balance Auditory Vision eXercises to activate the brain for learning and to create balance. I work with your natural abilities and developmental patterns, which may have become disrupted, often due to stress or trauma.

Equine-Assisted Therapy

We work with naming needs and making requests and they respond with compassion and creativity when we allow ourselves to really feel and express them. Being with the horses offers the experience of warm, nourishing relationships in an embodied way, where our nervous system meets with another, not just our mind. It is through these relationships and nervous system support that the healing happens.

Kind words from clients

I came to work with Alexandra to do Equine Assisted Therapy as I wanted to work on some old trauma issues from my childhood that were affecting me and causing anxiety amongst other things. The sessions with Alexandra and the horse therapist working with me at each session are profound and continue to help me on my healing journey. Alexandra’s wisdom and intuition combined with her skills, support, compassion and non-judgement has enabled me to make substantial progress on healing deeper issues within me and resulting in wonderful shifts in my life. Working with Alexandra is a very nurturing, enlightening, enriching and enjoyable experience.

The horses are amazing. Each one has a different way of working with you, but they each facilitate profound and deep realisations. The horses know how I am feeling and what is happening to me on deeper emotional levels and so they are able to help bring to the surface old emotional wounds and patterns to be able to be released, in a very supportive and nurturing environment. I wholeheartedly recommend the Equine Assisted Therapy Alexandra and her
horses provide.

Being supported by Alexandra and the horses has been an incredible journey of self-discovery. I've had a chance to put into practice things that I already knew and to discover different parts of myself. This has brought me to the understanding that my body has got so much wisdom and that the way to heal my wounds is through listening to it. I am very grateful for this opportunity.

and can impact both the mind and the body”
